St Andrews Cathedral School - Artist in Residence

St Andrews Cathedral School in the CBD of Sydney has incorporated an Artist in Residence Program. This program was to assist art students with their studio based practice. I was privileged to be assigned to the Digital Art Studio led by Mr Paul FitzGerald, under the guidance of Mr Ian Randall. This 12 month weekly engagement led to the inception of two short videos involving Yr 7 - 11 students. The students were asked to visualize their contemporary interpretation of the school values - which are founded from canonised belief systems. The principal of SACS, Mr Philip Heath took a special interest in the project. The students were enthusiastic and quite performative with their skits and concepts. The first video titled Gen-Y was screened in St Andrews Cathedral, to a full house, for the opening of the Annual Prize Giving Assembly, in December 2007. The positive response received from the school community drove the second video, Growing Whole People, to be produced and later screened in St Andrews Cathedral in May 2008. During the down time between projects I was able to film Indigenous Artist, Adam Hill, brilliantly demonstrating a drawing workshop for the Gawara Indigenous Unit. This video will be available to SACS as an art resource.
